Is This It , dos nova-iorquinos Strokes, foi eleito o melhor álbum da década pelo semanário britânico NME, relegando para segundo plano Up the Bracket dos Libertines. Entre os dez melhores álbuns dos anos 00 estão também os Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire e Radiohead.
A tabela compilada pela revista, publicada no número que sai amanhã para as bancas, é o resultado de uma votação que incluiu as escolhas de bandas como os Radiohead e os Arctic Monkeys, produtores e editores.
Em entrevista à publicação britânica, Julian Casablancas, líder dos Strokes, disse o seguinte: "Gravar [ Is This It ] foi divertido. Foi enervante, foi excitante". "Quer isto dizer que foi uma boa ou uma má década em termos musicais? Não sei, sou péssimo a analisar as minhas coisas".
